Sacred Medicines, Individualized Journeys
No two people arrive with the same story. Their path forward shouldn't be the same either.
At Plantas Sagradas, we do not believe that one medicine is inherently better than another, nor do we believe every person should follow the same sequence of experiences. Each sacred medicine possesses unique characteristics, strengths, limitations, and areas where it may be particularly supportive.
Rather than beginning with the question, "Which medicine should I take?", we begin with a different question:
"What is most appropriate for this individual at this point in their journey?"
Our recommendations are informed by thoughtful medical and psychological screening, clinical experience, traditional knowledge, careful preparation, and ongoing integration. Together, these elements allow us to develop individualized retreat experiences that honor both the person and the medicines with which they choose to work.
Whether someone is seeking support during a transition away from opioid dependence, navigating the effects of trauma, exploring personal growth, or pursuing a deeper understanding of themselves, our role is never simply to facilitate a ceremony.
It is to help match each individual with the experience most likely to support meaningful and lasting transformation.

Our Philosophy
Capacity Before Intensity
One of the guiding principles at Plantas Sagradas is Capacity Before Intensity. More medicine does not necessarily produce more healing. More intense experiences do not automatically create greater transformation.
Instead, we believe healing emerges when an individual's capacity to receive, process, and integrate an experience develops alongside the depth of that experience.
For this reason, some participants may benefit from beginning with Kambo or Ayahuasca, while others may be appropriate candidates for Ibogaine or Bufo. In some cases, the most meaningful recommendation may involve additional preparation, psychotherapy, or integration before participating in another medicine ceremony.
Every recommendation is individualized because no two people arrive with the same history, goals, or readiness.
This philosophy guides every aspect of our work, from medical screening and medicine selection to preparation, ceremony, and long-term integration.

The Medicines We Offer
✦ Ibogaine
Reflection • Reorganization • Renewal
Ibogaine is a unique entheogenic medicine recognized for its ability to facilitate profound introspection while supporting individuals seeking freedom from deeply established patterns. At Plantas Sagradas, Ibogaine is approached with comprehensive medical screening, physician oversight, and extensive preparation to ensure the experience is conducted safely and intentionally.

✦ Ayahuasca
Insight • Meaning • Connection
Ayahuasca offers an opportunity for deep psychological exploration and spiritual reflection. Many participants describe gaining greater clarity regarding personal history, relationships, emotional patterns, and life direction through experiences that often continue unfolding long after the ceremony has concluded.

✦ Kambo
Preparation • Cleansing • Resilience
Although not psychedelic, Kambo occupies an important role within many retreat experiences. Traditionally used to promote physical cleansing and mental clarity, Kambo may also serve as part of the preparation process before working with other sacred medicines when appropriate.

✦ Bufo (5-MeO-DMT)
Presence • Unity • Nondual Awareness
Bufo is among the most profound entheogenic experiences known. Because of its intensity, it is offered selectively and only after careful assessment of an individual's readiness. At Plantas Sagradas, Bufo embodies our guiding principle of Capacity Before Intensity.

✦ Changa
Presence • Curiosity • Expansion
Changa is offered as an optional ceremonial experience within select retreats for appropriately prepared participants. Rather than functioning as a standalone offering, it is thoughtfully integrated when it complements an individual's overall retreat process and personal intentions.

Choosing the Right Medicine
One of the most common questions we receive is,
"Which medicine is right for me?"
The answer is rarely found by comparing medicines alone.
Instead, it begins by understanding the individual.
We consider many factors, including:
✦ Medical history
✦ Psychological readiness
✦ Previous experience with altered states of consciousness
✦ Current medications
✦ Personal intentions and goals
✦ Emotional stability
✦ Available support systems
✦ Capacity for preparation and integration
Only after developing a comprehensive understanding of these factors do we make individualized recommendations regarding medicine selection and retreat planning.
More Than the Medicine
While sacred medicines often serve as powerful catalysts for transformation, they are only one part of the larger healing process.
Every retreat at Plantas Sagradas also includes practices designed to support preparation, regulation, recovery, and integration, including:
✦ Yoga
✦ Guided Breathwork
✦ Therapeutic Massage
✦ Integration Support
✦ Reflection and Group Discussion
✦ Healthy, Nourishing Meals
✦ Nature Immersion
✦ Optional NAD+ Therapy
✦ Individualized Integrative Care
We believe meaningful healing emerges through the thoughtful integration of many practices working together rather than through any single intervention alone.
